Position Overview

As an Assistant Store Manager , you will support a Market Leader or Campus Store Manager in overseeing store operations. Your responsibilities include driving sales growth and ensuring operational excellence by providing an engaging customer service experience.

You will foster mentorship and continuous development within your team, stay engaged with financial metrics and store performance, and support overall store operations alongside the Store Manager.

Responsibilities

1. Supervise sales team activities, including scheduling, training, policy adherence, and merchandising standards.
2. Conduct onboarding for new hires.
3. Greet customers, handle inquiries, resolve escalated issues, and promote a hassle-free customer service culture focused on solutions-based selling.
4. Manage receiving, verifying, and unloading orders.
5. Operate cash register and store computer systems, ensuring safe cash handling, balancing cash drawers, and preparing deposits.
6. Stock shelves and conduct inventory according to schedule.
7. Assist with general store cleaning and organization.
8. Execute merchandising and promotion standards, including creating displays.
9. Fill in for other staff during breaks, peak periods, or absences, covering various store functions.
10. Serve as a keyholder with opening and closing responsibilities.
11. Handle financial transactions, including deposits, cash counts, and end-of-day reporting; manage accounts receivable and bad checks; ensure accuracy in invoicing and reporting.
12. Participate in shrink prevention activities and maintain visible customer service practices.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent preferred.
• 0-5 years of retail or bookstore experience preferred; prior supervisory experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in general computer skills.
