DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Psychology at Montclair State University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Clinical Specialist (Teaching Faculty) position in its NASP Approved and CAEP Accredited School Psychology Program (SPP) to begin August 28, 2023.

We seek a dynamic, field-experienced colleague to join our core faculty in the SPP and contribute to our 65 credit, Specialist-Level (MA + Cert) graduate program. Responsibilities of the Teaching Faculty consists of teaching graduate-level assessment and intervention courses in the SPP, some of which will involve providing clinical supervision through the University’s Psychological Services Center (PSC). The position will also involve assisting the SPP with accreditation maintenance by managing and reporting from its student performance database. Program development/evaluation and student advisement are also expected components of this position.

Montclair State University is a public doctoral research university (R2) located approximately 30 minutes from New York City. Students in the SPP receive field and university-based practicum training through local school districts and the Psychology Department’s Psychoeducational Services Clinic (PSC), which is housed within the Center for Clinical Services (CCS), a renovated 25,000 square foot facility, featuring 20 assessment/treatment/conference and classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art video technology. Under university-based clinical supervision at the PSC, graduate students in school psychology evaluate clientele (ages 2-adult) to establish cognitive, academic, behavioral, social/emotional baseline levels of functioning. Our students liaise with families, schools, and caregivers to develop evidence-based reports and create recommendations for academic planning and special education eligibility considerations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful applicants will have a doctoral degree in School Psychology or related field from a NASP or APA accredited program. Applicants should be licensed as a psychologist in New Jersey or certified/eligible for certification in school psychology (e.g., state certification or NCSP credential), and have a working knowledge of New Jersey Special Education Code. Preference will be given to applicants with experience working in public school settings.
