Event Catering Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and extremely organized event catering specialist to help manage our catering, food truck and event services. The event specialist’s responsibilities will include managing phone calls, meeting with customers and potential customers to help plan their events and create a personalized proposal for each customer, coordinating event details and design for catering and décor, as well as, other event planning tasks, including managing accounts receivables for event payments, helping the catering manager to coordinate food preparation and presentation, maintaining our large rental and decor inventory, liaising with other vendors, assisting with coordinating staff for events. This position will involve one on one communication with brides, as well as social and corporate event customers from the initial conversation through the execution of each event with the help of our catering team.

To be successful in this role, you should have a personable demeanor, a passion for sales and customer service, as well as good networking and financial management skills. Excellent written and oral communication is a must. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with multiple computer applications and willing and able to learn event specific software, as well as have the ability to make company posts on social media in a variety of platforms. Experience in the food service industry is advantageous.

Event Catering Specialist Responsibilities:

• Effectively communicate with all clients, guests and staff in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner.
• Consult with potential customers to create personalized proposals.
• Organize and coordinate an event timeline, ensuring that the service runs smoothly and efficiently.
• Coordinate and oversee decor and food service set-up and breakdown.
• Processing and receiving food orders on time.
• Maintaining an inventory of rental, decor and office supplies.
• Driving company vehicles including large vans, box trucks & trucks to and from events.
• Liaising with vendors and external suppliers.
• Coordinating with catering and kitchen staff.
• Managing staff schedules.
• Assisting management with food and decor budget, and managing finances.
• Maintain high personal grooming standards and professional demeanor.

Event Catering Specialist Requirements:

• High school diploma.
• Valid driver’s license.
• A bachelor's or associate's degree in hospitality, culinary arts, or related field preferred.
• Prior experience in the food service or hospitality industry required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Financial and/or business management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional appearance.
• Organized, self-motivated and punctual.

We are an off-premise catering company based in Marshville, NC. We cater full-service weddings, as well as, corporate and social events. We have been in business for 38 years. We have produce multi-award winning NC BBQ in addition to our catering menus. We own a small venue and a complete mobile kitchen that is used as a food truck when not needed for private events.
