DSG seeks an Associate with strong writing and research skills and a minimum of two years of agency, legislative, and/or relevant experience for its California Practice, based in Sacramento. Under the direction of a DSG Principal, the Associate will provide internal and client-facing support on a variety of public affairs projects.

Primary Responsibilities

• Leading research projects, assisting in strategy development, and helping fulfill client requests
• Creating policy-focused content such as letters, statements, and social media posts
• Monitoring and reporting on policy and regulatory activity, including events and legislative hearings
• Compiling and continually updating reports in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
• Creating and managing media tracking systems and draft media copy
• Updating and maintaining websites and designing of flyers and infographics
• Overseeing and mentoring interns
• Assisting with other tasks and projects as needed

Desired Experience and Qualifications

• A minimum of two years of experience working in a public affairs, public relations, or government affairs firm, or in a legislative office or state government agency. Experience working on high-profile campaigns is a plus
• Strong organization and time management skills, acute attention to detail, and deep proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
• Experience working with Adobe, Canva, Wordpress, and content management systems is a plus
• Skilled in writing clearly and concisely on complex topics for a variety of audiences
• Demonstrated ability to research and grasp complex policy issues
• Experience juggling priorities and meeting tight deadlines
• Ability to work within a team to accomplish project goals, but also operate independently with minimal oversight
• Passion for mentoring interns

This is a full-time position based in Sacramento. Associates are expected to work a hybrid schedule, split between our Downtown office and remote.

Annual salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000.
