Our Marine Construction company has an immediate opening for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Under the direct supervision of the company's Head Mechanic, the incumbent of this position is responsible for a wide variety of repair and maintenance work on all types of equipment. We are a marine construction company, therefore most of our equipment is located in or around the water, applicant must be comfortable working near or on the water. Must be able to diagnose and troubleshoot issues with equipment and able to work independently. Supervision is not a responsibility of this position. No tools required, all tools are provided by the company. Pay based on experience.

• Must have small engine and electrical knowledge and ability to work on repairs and diagnostics independently;
• Tune engines, align brakes, replace water hoses, fan belts, oil seals and minor parts.
• Assists in the repair of excavators, outboard motors, pumps and various other related equipment.
• Load and unload materials and equipment from trucks. May operate a company truck to get to a work site. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required as work sites can vary across Hampton Roads.
• Working knowledge of tools, techniques, and terminology associated with the mechanics trade.
• Safety oriented with a working knowledge of the accident and safety precautions of the trade.
• Ability to perform simple repairs on all types of equipment; ability to diagnose mechanical difficulties and order the correct parts.
• Ability to follow oral instructions and employ problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to get along well with others; physical strength and agility; physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position.

Overtime available.

Paid time off after 90 days.

Medical, Dental & Vision available the 1st of the month following 60 days.

Contributions to a 401K can be made after being with the company for 1 year.
