What you'll do

Support multiple networking communication products currently in production and future Next Generator products within Viasat Government - Secure Network Systems (SNS).

Your responsibilities will include: becoming familiar with the technical design of multiple product lines and working with team members to address a variety of issues, supporting efforts to troubleshoot technical issues from production and the field, supporting qualification efforts for component changes, aiding the transition of prototype units to low rate initial production, lab support and management, setting up and maintaining test and development hardware, and board checkout.

The day-to-day

\n
• Hands on experience troubleshooting of complex digital systems (Processors, memory, FPGAs, CPLD, microcontrollers)
\n
• Use of both Windows and Linux operating systems to develop and execute tests
\n
• Knowledge and use of scripting languages, e.g. PERL, PYTHON a plus
\n
• Work closely with engineers to devise and monitor tests for troubleshooting problem
\n
• Identify rework needed to isolate and/or repair problems
\n
• Integrate and debug design in the laboratory
\n

What you'll need

\n
• 2-3 years hardware troubleshooting or sustaining experience
\n
• US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance is required
\n
• Must be able to prioritize, be detail oriented, and have a history of managing time well to accomplish multiple tasks in parallel
\n
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work with a temporally and geographically diverse team
\n
• Ability to document and report on technical solutions/findings
\n
• Good working knowledge of MS Office products for documentation creation and modification
\n
• Familiarity with standard test equipment (i.e., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, etc.)
\n
• Desire to be part of a multidisciplinary team to evaluate and troubleshoot production related issues
\n
• Ability to travel up to 10%
\n

What will help you on the job

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
\n
• Active Security Clearance
\n
• Familiarity with TCL, Perl, Python or another scripting language
\n
• Proven experience in debugging, diagnosing, and solving embedded designs issues
\n
• Familiarity with production-related processes and common failure modes
\n
• High aptitude for learning
\n
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, take ownership of tasks and results

Salary range

$24.52 - $38.94 / hourly. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $30.77 - $46.15/ hourly
