DESCRIPTION

Amazon has changed the way books are published, sold, and read across the globe. Independent authors and enterprise publishers are now able to publish and sell direct to readers through Kindle and print-on-demand (POD) offerings, enabling them to reach audiences never before available. POD offers always in-stock for any title with print facilities worldwide and leveraging Amazon fulfillment services. Come be a part of changing the way the world reads by leading technology for POD.

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer II to own our Print-on-Demand (POD) technology for Kindle Enterprise Publishing (KEP) and Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) customers, including the front end user experience, backend lifecycle and metadata management systems for account and book information, royalty calculation systems, and accounting technology associated with POD.

Key job responsibilities
As an SDE II, you will invent, design, and build technology across the entire book publishing process. As a full stack engineer on the POD Portals, Royalties and Accounting team you will take on challenges in the KDP and KEP business spaces, from individual or bulk title ingestion, through book validation and publishing lifecycle, royalty calculation for POD orders, the end user reporting and viewing experience, and the accounting integration to report on business finances. You are expected to raise the high quality bar required to earn customer trust in these critical systems, and are expected to mentor the team and help shape team process improvements to ensure that long term health of the software is maintained.

About the team
Our team builds the end-to-end services required to ensure that books never go out-of-stock, enabling the printing and shipping of books immediately after orders are placed. We strive to provide an experience that is powerful, yet simple to use and accessible to all. This role will help design and engineer the future of the book industry. We focus on building tools that enable publishers to publish high quality paperback and hardcover books, reaching readers all around the world. By providing an excellent set of tools for our publishers we will help their works reach more readers.
