We are seeking an experienced leader with a strong record of achieving results, to build and scale Under the Roof (UTR) planning team in Japan. We are looking for someone that can enable data driven decision making with expansion of several strategic programs and lead various background team to meet rapid business expansion. The Senior Manager will work with multiple teams within the AMZL, upstream teams, and outside of Japan teams to deliver the optimal UTR planning which ensure the best associate experience, efficiency and effectiveness to pursue operational excellence. The role entails strategic leadership with both internal and external stakeholders to build a world class UTR planning team with a customer backwards approach.
You will work on developing and managing the programs and mechanisms that our last mile uses to manage their delivery operations and drive best in class customer experience. As an owner, you will develop the program strategy, define goals, and work across a broad set of stakeholders to execute the vision. A successful candidate should be comfortable influencing across teams and interfacing with individuals at all levels of the organization. You will have the opportunity to lead the core team of AMZL JP with data and science.
We are looking for a bar-raising Senior Manager who:
- Enable effective decision making by retrieving and aggregating data from multiple sources and compiling it into actionable reports/dashboards. Translate data into actionable insights
- Develop optimal and scalable UTR planning processes with automation and scale ad-hoc analyses, and work with team to develop scalable solution on them
- Lead in strategic and tactical planning discussions taken into account market complexity
- Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
- Solve complex problems by building scrappy and effective models
- Works within time constraints to meet critical business needs

Key job responsibilities
- Own our 13-week and long-term capacity planning cycles
- Build capacity plan based on volume plans published by the demand planning team
- Influence last mile network hiring strategy and ensure capacity is enough to meet demand considering with volatility of demand
- Build strategies that will build the right staffing plan to support upside in package demand while optimizing for cost speed and service performance
- Provide a long-term vision on building process to support rapid growth in the last mile business for Amazon
- Work cross-functionally and understand the long-term requirements of all programs that leverage the last mile network
- Build relationships with tech partners and influence the tech leaders to solve complex business problems by collaborating to build the right tech road map for the capacity planning team
- Interact with senior-level audiences (including directors and VPs) from both internal and external teams
- Develop the last mile planning process, tools, and models along with deep insights on the last mile network for JP Amazon Logistics team
- Deliver high quality customer experience while minimizing cost and improving fulfillment speed
- Work with multiple stakeholders within AMZL team, First mile team, MM team and Operational Excellence team
- Work with Senior Leadership (VP level) from various partner teams to drive alignment with business stake-holders
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of professional experience in business analytics, operations, capacity planning, or transportation industries
- Experience with managing complex programs/projects that requires working with multiple stakeholders across the organization
- Experience managing people managers; Rich experience with talent review, coaching, org development planning
- Business level English
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Business level Japanese
- Master's Degree in science / MBA
- Certified leader in Operational Excellence
- Experience leading/managing large scale team with technical background
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous, deadline-oriented work environment. You create order, without stifling progress and adaptation
- Experience leading new or start-up related projects where processes need to be defined, implemented and iterated within last mile
- Excited about working in a diverse group and contributing to an inclusive culture
