At Roche, the Sr Software Developer in Testing is responsible for test design, development, automation, deployment, execution, and reporting within the Verification and Validation team of Roche Sequencing Solutions. The role involves ensuring software products meet specified requirements and perform as intended through rigorous testing throughout the development lifecycle. Responsibilities include confirming correctness of requirements-driven tests using exploratory, white box, and black box testing; executing tests at multiple levels such as end-to-end, system, integration, and unit testing; performing functional, performance, and scalability testing; automating and executing front-end and back-end tests for instrument software and web applications; developing and automating deployment and testing pipelines; tracking and reporting quality metrics; conducting root cause analyses of defects; designing and implementing automation frameworks; ensuring compliance with regulatory standards; and collaborating with Test Architects, Test Leads, Verification & Validation Leads, designers, architects, and developers. The role requires working in both office and lab environments, including hands-on interaction with medical device systems and electromechanical instruments. Candidates should be comfortable working around automated instruments and performing lab work such as initiating test runs, collecting data, analyzing system behavior, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Required qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience, 5 years in software product development, 4 years in quality engineering or similar field, experience in automating front-end and back-end applications, automation frameworks, Unix derivatives, Behavior-Driven Development, Agile methodologies, regulated industries (Medical Devices/Digital Health/Lifesciences), database query writing, and excellent communication skills.
