The SPD Instrument Technician is responsible for the effective and efficient cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instrument sets in support of the operating room, labor and delivery, and special procedure areas.

Previous sterilization/hospital experience strongly preferred.
After 2 years combination of classroom education and job experience the Technician must obtain fluency in hospital terminology, basic knowledge of descriptive anatomy and physiology, a basic understanding of microbiology; the prevention and control of infection; and all facets of disinfection.
